SUMMARY:Design Jam for Impact
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our second edition of the DESIGN JAM FOR IMPACT organized by the DESIS Lab @ Nova SBE and REDE DESIS Lab at the Faculty of Architecture in Lisbon. This is an amazing opportunity to engage in multi-disciplinary collaboration to design\, iterate and refine impactful solutions to address social and environmental issues. \n\n\n\nWHAT WILL WE DO \n\n\n\nThe day will be fast-paced and full of hands-on activities to allow you collaboratively generate innovative solutions to help 5 projects (from NovaSBE students and social entrepreneurs tackling social and environmental issues. \n\n\n\nWe will practice design thinking and learn practical tools to nurture your creative problem-solving and develop meaningful and sustainable solutions to tackle complex social and environmental issues in our communities. \n\n\n\nDesign thinking is a powerful approach to help develop insights into problems that generate solutions that may otherwise remain hidden to you. \n\n\n\nWHAT WILL YOU LEARN? \n\n\n\nMultidisciplinary communication and collaboration\, journey maps\, prototyping\, scenarios and storytelling. \n\n\n\nMore than anything\, you’ll have the opportunity to work with like-minded passionate people from different disciplines! \n\n\n\nHOW? \n\n\n\nAs a participant\, you will be a creative collaborator. As such you will work with 5 projects which address a social and / or environmental issue. They are passionate by their idea but they also believe in the power of collaboration and diversity\, and are looking for creative inputs and different perspectives. \n\n\n\nT﻿he workshop will be facilitated by Anne-Laure Fayard (Nova SBE) and Inês Veiga (FAL). We have a limited number of seats. \n\n\n\nLunch will be provided. \n\n\n\nOUR TEAM \n\n\n\nAnne-Laure Fayard\, ERA Chair Professor of Social Innovation\, coordinator of Nova DESIS (design for social innovation and sustainability) Lab\, and Visiting Research Professor at NYU. SUMMARY:Business Design for Social Innovators
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a workshop on Business Design for Social Innovators\, open only to Nova SBE students \n\n\n\nBusiness Design combines human-centered design methodologies and mindsets with business model and strategy tools and approaches to solve business challenges. Social Innovators can leverage business design to: \n\n\n\n\nDe-risk business ideas and draft models to move a business concept forward.\n\n\n\nCreate products and services that deliver unmatched value to customers\n\n\n\nImprove on existing products\, services and offers\n\n\n\nRefine their business model to achieve scale and impact\n\n\n\nImprove their internal business processes and structures\n\n\n\nDesign strategies to deliver better impact\n\n\n\nCreate partnerships that can help scale their business\n\n\n\n\nFor this workshop\, we will explore how social innovators can leverage the art of business prototyping to refine aspects of their businesses that are essential to achieving product-market fit and impact. \n\n\n\nThe workshop will be facilitated by Isaac Jumba\, the Spring 2023 Social Innovator-in-Residence invited by the ERA Chair in Social Innovation. The workshop is organized by the DESIS Lab @ Nova SBE in partnership with the Haddad Institute Entrepreneurship. The workshop will take place at the Haddad Institute. \n\n\n\nMore about Isaac Jumba: \n\n\n\nIsaac is the founder of Mideva Labs – a research\, design and innovation consultancy studio based in Nairobi Kenya\, and a co-founder of Idea Studio Africa – a community-powered learning\, skills development and apprenticeship studio helping young professionals build meaningful career pathways in innovation and entrepreneurship. \n\n\n\nIsaac previously co-founded the Africa YES Program – a 6-month leadership and entrepreneurship accelerator program for young social entrepreneurs in Kenya\, which has supported over 80 entrepreneurs to launch social ventures since 2019. \n\n\n\nIsaac has over 8 years of experience working in the design\, social innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem across Africa and supporting initiatives around the world\, including working for openIDEO – IDEO’s open innovation platform that supported innovators across the globe to solve some of the biggest world’s challenges. \n\n\n\nHe brings deep expertise in leveraging the human-centred design and strategy approaches in helping teams\, individuals and organizations innovate sustainably to achieve impact. \n\n\n\nIsaac has a passion for designing with and working with communities and young people to achieve impact and is interested in exploring ways to rethink learning and in investment in young people and their ideas for a better future. \n\n\n\nIsaac holds certifications in Entrepreneurship\, Human-Centered Design\, Business Design\, and Strategy Design\, and a bachelor’s in Computer Science.
